On Thursday 15th June, ten Lower 5 pupils played in the Cricket Scotland S3 Girls’ Tournament in Perth. The team started with a tough game against a strong Cargilfield team which they lost. However, the girls bounced back impressively to beat MES and Perth Grammar. A semi-final against Glasgow Academy came next and the girls played a great cricket match to win by 20 runs, with important late wickets taken by Issy and Ella.
The day finished with a repeat of the first game, a re-match with Cargilfield in the final. The team showed their progress throughout the day in all areas but were beaten by 17 runs by a very good team. Despite Mairi’s excellent batting and superb wicketkeeping from Becky, the girls left the tournament with the silver medals. Well done to the whole team on their performances!
