Due to Weather Warning School Closed 24 January
Dear Families and Guardians
As I expect you will have already seen, the met office has upgraded the weather warning to a red ‘danger to life’ warning: Met Office issues Storm Eowyn red alert warning to stay at home over Scotland | STV News.
I am afraid, in these circumstances we are not able to guarantee that the site and the staffing of site will be safe enough for the children to be in school, we have therefore reluctantly taken the decision to close all school buildings for Friday 24th January. I realise this is going to be difficult for families and I am sorry, but we cannot advise staff or families to travel in light of the guidance. There will be a separate communication for boarding students explaining provision.
Please note the following:
- There will be activities and work set for all of the pupils. Teachers will not be teaching live via teams, as there has not been sufficient warning to prepare live online lessons.
Staff will however be contactable via Teams/email to answer any questions the students might have. - Mock examinations scheduled for Friday 24 January and will move to Monday 27 January. All students who do not have mock examinations rescheduled to Monday 27 January will be expected in lessons.
- We will make a decision about the Saturday fixtures, external lets and the Family Ceilidh by 4pm on Friday and communicate via the usual channels (please check socs for fixtures and school post for the ceilidh).
- Friday’s community toddler group will also be cancelled.
- We will tell the pupils to take home their kit, books and devices today, so that they are able to participate.
Please channel any questions through the three office emails, so that we can manage communication efficiently: usoffice@stge.org.uk lsoffice@stge.org.uk and jsoffice@stge.org.uk .
The Boarding House can be reached on: houldsworth@stge.org.uk.
With grateful thanks for your understanding
