Elite Training: Upper 5s Visit to Inverclyde National Sports Centre
Our Upper 5s had an incredibly enjoyable trip to the Inverclyde National Sports Centre. The highlight of the trip was undoubtedly using their world-class gymnastics facilities, which are used by the Scotland and Great Britain gymnastics squads. Students had the chance to practise and refine our skills on the trampoline, rings, vault, and parallel bars.
They also took part in a duathlon, testing their stamina and resilience. This involved a spin bike class followed by a 3k run around the sports centre grounds. In addition, the students had the opportunity to use the gym and receive coaching from their personal trainers. They completed a circuit in strength, conditioning and weightlifting.
On the second evening, they had the privilege of speaking to professional Judoka, Graeme Randall MBE, Commonwealth Games Gold medallist, about his experiences in judo and what it takes to compete at the highest level, having participated in two consecutive Olympic Games.
Overall, the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves, gaining a valuable insight into life as an athlete for two days.
