Head Girls hosts Robert Burns Scholar from New Zealand
Megan Simpson, from St Andrews College New Zealand, is the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Robert Burns Scholarship. The scholars travel to Scotland and participate in cultural exchanges with various schools.
Megan’s first stop is at St George’s where she is currently being hosted by our Head Girl, Lexi. Lexi is a top host making Megan feel comfortable here with homecooked meals with her family, introducing her to Scottish films, trying local Scottish cuisine and touring with her around Edinburgh to the Royal Mile and the Grass Market. Megan is also experiencing everything St George’s has to offer while attending school with Lexi and her sister.
Although their time together is short, Megan’s experiences in Edinburgh and at St George’s with Lexi have been full!

"I feel so grateful to be the first Head Girl in three years to host the Robert Burns Scholar, not only is it an amazing opportunity to meet someone new but it is a time to share ideas and collaborate to improve our respective schools. I am also incredibly excited about the cultural aspect of the exchange; I have always found the traditions of each culture to be unique so I can't wait to share all aspects of Scottish culture with Meg. As well as learn about New Zealand's culture, a beautiful place I would love to visit one day. It is evident that our two schools share the same values and ambitions, so I hope that Meg can leverage those shared principles to maximise her experience while she is here in Scotland. I know she will, and I look forward to supporting her on this amazing journey."
