Houldsworth Boarders Bond Over Pottery, Gingerbread, and Market Magic
What’s Been Going on in Houldsworth: 12 - 24 November 2023
12th Nov: Pottery Café
A popular outing amongst the boarders is at the pottery café down at South Queensferry. It’s the idyllic spot for getting cosy with a hot chocolate while painting, overlooking the Firth of Forth. This two-hour session is always so much fun, as the boarders get to walk away with a new hand painted item with dozens of items to choose from.
18th Nov: Gingerbread tree decorating
House parent, Mrs Gray, has brought in the gingerbread hearts for the Christmas tree. Each boarder will get given a heart which they can personalize to their taste which gets hung from the new tree this year. A great effort was made, as we now have lots of beautifully iced gingerbread hearts!
19th Nov: Edinburgh Christmas Market
There’s truly nothing better than getting wrapped up warm and taking a stroll through Edinburgh’s Christmas Market. On this Sunday trip, the boarders indulged on warm Nutella crepes and churros before bravely facing the big rides!
24th Nov: Gingerbread man making (this time to eat)
The smells of ginger and cinnamon hit Houldsworth once again, as house parents Mrs Hallifax and Miss Guilmant prepare for gingerbread man making – and this time they can eat them! It was a popular night as the kitchen was full, and the boarders got stuck in as they decorated and enjoyed their sweet treats.
