Houldsworth House Round-Up: February 2025

Haggis Hunt Highlights
Houldsworth House welcomed several ad hoc boarders from the Lower School who enthusiastically participated in our famous Haggis Hunt. The younger boarders made their way around the House with helpful guidance from our experienced older boarders, making it a wonderful opportunity for cross-year bonding.
Friday Night Baking Traditions Continue
Friday nights at Houldsworth continue to be a highlight with Mrs Hallifax's popular baking sessions. Recent weeks have seen our boarders mastering the art of sweet scones and cookies. These sessions not only develop practical skills but create a warm, homely atmosphere that is central to our boarding ethos.
Growing Together: Mental Health Awareness Week
During Children's Mental Health Awareness Week (3-9 February), our boarders embraced this year's theme of "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself" with a special gardening project. The 5 O'Clock Club, joined by our exchange students from Pennsylvania, planted garden cress as a mindful reflection on personal growth.
The activity provided a tangible metaphor for self-development—nurturing seeds, investing time in regular watering, and ensuring optimal conditions for growth. We're pleased to report that with tender loving care, both our cress plants and our boarders are happy and thriving!
