L4A Hockey Success at East District Tournament

The L4A team competed in the annual East District 1st Year Tournament. It was once again hosted by Edinburgh Academy, and there were lots of excellent games played throughout the day. This is one of the biggest tournaments, with 10 teams competing throughout the day. The team played MES first and, after conceding an early goal, the team settled into their game. Making early challenges and putting MES under pressure, the game finished 2-3 to MES. Next up was Edinburgh Academy; having played them at the weekend, the team knew they needed to be tight in defence and confident going forward in possession. A well-deserved 1-1 draw meant it was still all to play for. The final two games in our section against North Berwick and Boroughmuir resulted in two wins, scoring 6 and 4 respectively. This was a tight group section - we ended up on the same points as Edinburgh Academy but unfortunately missed out on the cup group by goal difference.

The plate semi-final was against Firhill, which we won 4-0, setting us up for a final against Fettes. This was a tight game; Fettes scored first, but the team persevered and from a break-away play and an excellent finish, the score was 1-1. Running penalties were needed to decide the winner, and after some excellent goals and steely nerves from our goalie, we won the Plate. An excellent day and lots of tired legs. Well done to all of the team.
