Lower 5 YPI Finalists Showcase Community Support Projects
YPI Finalists announced
This term Lower 5 have been working in teams to contact and represent a charity working to improve social issues in the Edinburgh area, as part of the Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Scotland project. The winning team from St George's will win £3000 for the charity they are representing, and students must research and demonstrate how this money will be spent in the local area. Each team presented their case to a panel of judges in front of an audience, and six finalist teams were chosen. The final will be on Friday 10 January 2025, so the teams have time to add further polish to their presentations before then. Staff from YPI Scotland will be the judges for the final, making the decision of which group will win the £3000 for their charity.
The finalists:
Eric Liddell Community - tackling loneliness and supporting carers (Holly, Isabel, Isla, Kari and Bridget)
Murrayfield Club - elderly care ( Elise, Ellie, Ellie M and Alma)
Breakfast Bothy - homelessness (Paige, Pippa, Rachel, Sophia, Sophie W and Camryn)
Thornton Rose Riding for the Disabled (Amelia, Anais, Bella and Zoe)
Its Good 2 Give - supporting young cancer patients and their families (Meredith, Mavis, Neve, Rosie and Nur)
Circle - families facing multiple disadvantages (Shania, Eve, Dany and Clarissa)
Good luck to all of the teams!
