Lowther Hills Challenge: Students Complete Duke of Edinburgh Silver Expedition

Duke of Edinburgh Award is back for 2025!

Many congratulations to our 23 students on the successful completion of their Silver Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition. This camp took place over the weekend in the Lowther Hills, close to Wanlockhead.

During the first day students completed navigation exercises during an afternoon walk with their instructors, ensuring they had the knowledge and confidence for their independent remotely supervised expedition section.

Students undertook a two-day, one-night self-sufficient expedition over the following days, wild camping and cooking all meals on stoves. Once finally back at base camp, they reflected on their learning from the practice element, and lessons to take forward to their qualifying expedition.

Students are now ready to proceed to their Qualifying Expedition in the Trossachs on 29 – 31 August 2025.
