Primary 6 Activity Round-Up: From Charitable Contributions to Volcanic Eruptions
Lower School Harvest
Over the last few weeks, Lower School has been collecting donations for a charity called Fresh Start. Fresh Start is a charity that helps people who are moving on from being homeless and who are just starting out in a new home. On Monday, Darcey came to collect all the items. We helped her load the van - there was so much stuff!
We also made some beautiful boxes to put our collection in. Thank you to everyone who donated. We know that our donation will make a huge difference to someone.
Visiting the Lower School labs
Last week, we went to the Lower School labs. It was so exciting because we got to create a volcano out of plasticine and make it erupt.
After we made the volcano, we put a container inside. We filled the container with bicarbonate of soda, red food colouring and washing-up liquid. Then we added some vinegar and waited for the eruption. It was so cool! It looked amazing but it was really smelly. We learnt that the volcano erupted because there was a chemical reaction between the vinegar and the bicarbonate of soda. This reaction caused bubbles of carbon dioxide gas to be released.
