U14 Lacrosse Tournament Success at St George's

St George's hosted the U14 Scottish Schools Lacrosse Tournament on 11th March, welcoming teams from Fettes, Loretto, and Glen Almond. Our U14B team delivered an outstanding performance, securing the Second Division championship! The U14A team also impressed, finishing as runners-up in an exciting final against Fettes, who claimed the First Division title.

Congratulations to all participants for their dedication, teamwork, and remarkable performances throughout the tournament.

Senior Badminton Team Shines in Two Major Competitions

Our senior badminton team has enjoyed an impressive season, competing in two prestigious tournaments. At the Scottish Schools Gibb Memorial Quaich in Glasgow (26th February), our team partnered with Merchiston to win 3 out of 4 matches, securing a top 5 finish.

The Edinburgh Schools Competition proved to be the season's highlight, where our Merchiston partnership delivered commanding performances. After an impressive 10-1 victory against Royal High School in the first round, the team advanced to defeat Mary Erskine/Stewarts Melville in the semi-finals. In a hard-fought final against George Heriot's, our girls performed brilliantly, winning 3 out of 5 games, but ultimately finished as worthy runners-up.

Congratulations to our Senior Badminton team: Deepti (L6), Chloe (L5), Rija (L4), Sophia (L4), Mayu (L5), and Chaarvi (U5).

L4 Hockey and Netball Tour Adventures

Our Lower 4 hockey and netball players enjoyed a fantastic sports tour on 21st-22nd March. The adventure began with lunch at Bamburgh Beach, complete with wave jumping and a walk around the castle.

The first fixtures against Newcastle High School for Girls saw evenly matched contests in both hockey and netball. Clara and Anuska earned player of the match honours for netball. Friday evening brought the excitement of laser tag, with suspiciously low scores for the teacher targets!

Saturday's matches against Dame Allan featured strong opposition, with our teams improving significantly after settling into the games. Katie R scored her second goal of the tour for the B hockey team. In netball, it was wonderful to see players who don't usually play hockey excel on the court. Charlotte, Holly, Izzy and Anushka were recognised as players of the match by the opposition.

The journey home, complete with the L4 tour playlist on repeat, provided a fitting end to a memorable weekend.
