Students Code Their Way to AWS GetIT Finals
Students Excel in AWS GetIT Challenge
This year, St George's has once again excelled in the AWS GetIT programme, with our submission "Roots" selected as one of the top three finalists in the UK. This remarkable achievement follows our win in the competition last year.
The programme encourages young people, especially girls, to explore careers in STEM. Our students embraced this challenge, working collaboratively to develop innovative app ideas that tackle real-world issues.
Innovative App Concepts
Among the standout projects were:
"Find A Fit" - Helps users find sustainable fashion options by reusing clothes in their wardrobe.
"PollutioResolvo" - Informs about pollution and its harmful effects, providing tools for healthier living.
"Edumon" - Focuses on financial literacy, with personalised lessons and money management features.
"BallotBox" - Empowers voters by providing election information, moderated forums, and voting checklists.
Recognising Excellence
Congratulations to all participants for their exceptional work and creativity. A special recognition goes to the "Roots" team for reaching the final three schools in the UK. We wish them the best of luck in the final competition in London.
St George's remains committed to fostering a love for technology and innovation among our students. We are proud of their progress and look forward to seeing how they will continue to use technology to make a positive impact.
