The 1st XI Hockey Team's Foundation for Future Success
Our 1st XI Hockey team began the season as a young and relatively inexperienced group, having lost 11 players from the previous year's squad. This resulted in some tough results in September, but the team rounded off the first half-term with an encouraging 3-2 win against Loretto. In November, we faced a challenging draw in the Scottish Cup first round, away to Dollar Academy. The girls showed their improvement in a short space of time, playing with great spirit and skill they led the game 1-0 with only 12 minutes to play, but ended up losing 2-1 to the eventual Scottish Cup winners.
Our new kit has been a huge positive, contributing to a professional look for the team and improving their confidence - we would like to send a big thank you to I-Confidential for their support!
It was a pleasure to see the way our older and younger players gelled together on and off the pitch over the course of the season, with a number of encouraging results, notably a 3-2 win over Dollar in January, and some good displays in our hockey sevens tournaments in March.
Our squad now has the opportunity to go to South Africa on tour in August and with many players returning next season, our hopes are high for a great year ahead!
