UKMT Mathematical Olympiad for Girls and Senior Maths Challenge Results
On 25 September some of our Upper School students and one student in Lower 4 took part in the UKMT Mathematical Olympiad for Girls.
The Mathematical Olympiad for Girls is aimed at girls and young women across the UK and consists of five challenging problems.
We congratulate Kana (L4) who received a Distinction, Saskia (U6) who received a Merit, and Claire, Emmie (L5), Rachael, Sahana (U5) for their Certificate of Participation.
On 1 October several of our Upper School students and one Lower 4 student took part in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge.
The Challenge is a 90-minute, multiple-choice paper which encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the Senior Mathematical Challenge are designed to make students think. Most are accessible, yet still challenge those with more experience.
All participants have received a certificate of participation. To recognise the highest performers in the Challenge, the top-scoring 66% of participants are awarded Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates. Students that are 'Best in Year' or 'Best in School' have also received a badge to denote this on their certificates.
The 2024 award thresholds were:
83+ Gold, 66+ Silver, 49+ Bronze
We congratulate
Kana (L4), Ashmita (L6) and Kelsie (U6) on their Gold certificate;
