Young Entrepreneurs Impress in Lower 4 Dragon's Den Competition
In May, Lower 4 students took part in a Dragon's Den competition. Groups of 4 or 5 worked together to come up with an innovative product or business idea.
Ideas ranged from apps to encourage healthy living, to ways to address waste in fashion. Each group made a pitch to our set of Dragons (Mr Dawson, Ms Mushat and Mr Ashmore). The ‘Dragons’ were incredibly impressed by the high standard of the pitches and the innovation and imagination shown. It was a very difficult and close decision but eventually the judges selected the winners as team 'Cheveux' consisting of Hibah, Isla M, Megan, Jessica, and Sophie.
The team created 'Cheveux', a subscription hair product business where you ordered a product and received mini samples, based on recommendations, which would encourage more purchases. The business rewarded customers for returning empty products with vouchers to encourage sustainability.
Feedback from the judges noted that the concept was workable and could be used now. Great work! It could be easily rolled out and was generally agreed to be a good business plan. They also displayed great teamwork in the presentation.
The Runners up were 'Pet Protect' in 2nd and 'Brandable' in 3rd.
