Young Singer of St George's Competition 2023

The Young Singer of St George's Competition, which took place on Wednesday 22 November, was a fantastic evening of very high-quality singing performances. Thirteen students from Upper 4 through to Upper 6 took part and we welcomed Kathleen McKellar Ferguson from the RCS as our esteemed adjudicator for the evening.

Sylvie (Upper 6) placed first and is our Young Singer of St George's 2023. Sylvie sang ‘Vienna’ by Billy Joel, which was originally released as a B Side to ‘Just the Way You Are’. She followed that by ‘Dead Mom’ by Eddie Perfect, a song from Beetlejuice the Musical, based on the 1987 film of the same name.

Beth (Upper 4) placed second. Beth impressed our adjudicator with her version of ‘Cabaret’ by John Kander, which paints a vivid picture of a place where people from various walks of life gather to forget their troubles.

Eva (Lower 5) placed third singing ‘Oh, Sleep Why Dost Thou Leave Me?’ by G.F Handel and the aria, ‘Non Posso Disperar’ by G.B. Bononcini.
