Ms Linda Ruxton, LLB, Vice Chair of Council, St George's School, Edinburgh

Sheriff Ruxton was a pupil at St George’s and was Head Girl in 1973-74. She joined Council in 2009 and became vice-chair in 2011. She studied Law at Edinburgh University and joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service where she developed a special interest in fatal accident inquiries. In 2000 she was appointed to the shrieval bench and was a sheriff in Glasgow until she retired in 2022. During that time, she pioneered the Glasgow Drug Court and presided over a number of high-profile fatal accident inquires. She was one of the first senior female procurators fiscal with her own jurisdiction and one of the first female sheriffs. As such, she is a huge supporter of girls’ education.

She is a keen musician and singer.
