Alison Girdwood's educational journey began as a boarder at St George's from 1971-1978, where she studied subjects like English, Biology, and Art,. She then attended the University of Edinburgh and earned a Master's in African Studies, followed by a PhD in Higher Education Policy Reform from the University of Bath. Her career has spanned roles at publishing companies, universities like Edinburgh and Bath, the Commonwealth Secretariat as an education specialist, and DFID in areas like evaluation and education advising. Notable achievements include chairing an NGO for South African scholarships and organizing a Commonwealth education ministers' conference. She is currently the Director of Evaluation and Learning at the British Council.
