Iona Stephen, class of 2008, was a multi-talented athlete at St George's, excelling in sports like squash, hockey, lacrosse, and athletics at the junior international level before discovering her passion for golf at university. After studying History of Art at St. Andrews and obtaining qualifications in sports nutrition and personal training, Iona pursued a professional golf career.
Though a wrist injury cut her playing days short, Iona's expertise and charismatic personality paved the way for her to become a rising broadcast star. She has covered major golf events like The Masters, The Open, Solheim Cup, and Ryder Cup for renowned networks such as GolfTV, Sky Sports, BBC, and NBC. In 2021, Iona made history as the first female on-course commentator for the EA Sports golf video game.
Beyond her impact in the golfing world, Iona is an ambassador for the charity BIG CHANGE, supporting young people's wellbeing. With a keen interest in optimizing health and energy for elite performance, she frequently speaks on the topic across the UK. Iona also mentors through The Stephen Gallagher Foundation, exemplifying her commitment to empowering the next generation.
