The role of a teacher goes beyond grades, and even the classroom, you must be a good role model and mentor. Providing emotional support when it’s required is critical in helping our students navigate this ever changing and evolving world. Art lessons were my sanctuary and the one place I felt truly free to express myself, gaining a grade A two years early established my ability and set my direction.
My passion to sculpt raw materials such as molten glass and clay lead me to an Art & Design BA Hons at Sunderland University’s National Glass Centre. It was here that I really found enjoyment in sharing my own learning with others, often engaging with the public to deliver hot glass blowing workshops.
Art has always been that one stable in my life no matter where or what I’m doing, it draws me in. Regardless of whether it’s architecture, painting, sculpture, design or photography I am driven by my creative passion. What better way to harness this passion and desire to share my learning than become a teacher and live it each day.
