“Sport and outdoor adventures had always been a big part of my childhood; from holidays in Snowdonia and the Alps, to competitive rugby, athletics and cross country. So I was already fascinated by all aspects of sport, which led to studying a BSc in Sport and Exercise Sciences then an MSc in Applied Sport Psychology. During this time, my rugby career progressed and I also worked primarily in elite youth sports with Fulham FC Academy and GB Water polo. When I moved to Edinburgh in 2018, I sought out a school to challenge and progress my experience – and one that broke gender stereotypes by giving girls more sporting opportunities. And that is the core of PE provision at St George’s! Throughout each girl’s time here, they’re involved in outdoor education; from outdoor learning in Junior School to the trips in Primary 6, Remove, Lower 4 and Upper 4, then into CFF and DofE. Our overall aim is for all students to gain a positive affinity to the natural world and develop physical, social, and emotional skills for life.”
